Microsoft's Copilot Tasks AI Uses Cloud Computer for Busywork
Microsoft is previewing a new AI feature called Copilot Tasks, designed to act as a personal digital assistant for background busywork. Unlike typical AI assistants that run on a user's device, Copilot Tasks operates on its own dedicated cloud-based computer and uses a cloud browser to perform jobs independently. This system can autonomously handle a variety of tedious tasks—such as data summarization, web research, form filling, or scheduling coordination—without requiring the user's direct oversight or draining local processing power. By offloading this work to the cloud, Microsoft aims to significantly improve user productivity, allowing individuals to focus on higher-level work while the AI manages the routine digital chores that clog modern workflows.
