OpenAI to Retire Older GPT-4 Models from ChatGPT

OpenAI is streamlining its model offerings, announcing the retirement of several older models from ChatGPT. Effective February 13, 2026, the company will sunset GPT-4o, GPT-4.1, GPT-4.1 mini, and OpenAI o4-mini. This follows the previously announced retirement of certain GPT-5 variants. The move reflects OpenAI's ongoing evolution, as it phases out legacy architectures in favor of newer, more capable, and presumably more efficient models. The company has indicated there are no immediate changes to API availability for these models, suggesting a managed transition for developers. This consolidation is a common practice in the fast-moving AI industry, aimed at focusing resources and user attention on the most advanced and supported technologies, ensuring a consistent and improved experience for ChatGPT users.
